Winter walk+roll is one of the newer walk+roll events, but despite that, it was well attended on February 7th, 2024. Students, parents, caregivers, and SRTS supporters showed up for this event regardless of the chilly Oregon weather across the state.
Central Oregon SRTS Coordinator Marika Tammaru helped Bend-La Pine schools plan winter walk+roll events on February 7th. She also hosted a walk to Ponderosa Elementary School from Pine Nursery Park in Bend.
“Commute Options celebrated Winter Walk to School Day on February 7th in Bend! An in-person event at Ponderosa Elementary had a great turnout with students and families enjoying hot cocoa and pastries from Sparrow Bakery before walking to school and completing their Winter Walk bingo cards. Students from Bear Creek, Juniper, North Star, and Elk Meadow Elementary Schools also participated and logged their trips. What a great way to enjoy a sunny winter morning!”
