Our March statewide webinar (3/15 from 11am-12pm) invites Safe Routes to School advocates throughout Oregon to consider not only the opportunities and challenges of SRTS programming on Tribal lands, but to recognize and honor the ancestral Indigenous land in Oregon that we all live on.
Tribal communities around the country are working to reduce pedestrian fatalities. In Oregon, Tribal communities are integrating ODOT SRTS funding to help students get to and from school safely, and connect them to their communities through walking and rolling. On March 15th, Tribal Transportation Planners from The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and the Klamath Tribes will discuss their current SRTS projects, successes and opportunities for future expansion of SRTS programs.
For Safe Routes advocates who are not part of an Oregon Tribal community, we invite you to learn more about the land you live on using this map, and learn more about Land Acknowledgements and how you can incorporate them into your work before attending the webinar.
