Serving through the Douglas Educational Service District located in Roseburg, OR at schools throughout Douglas County, the Safe Routes to School Facilitator will develop and facilitate education and encouragement programs throughout schools in Douglas County that increase physical activity, provide bike and pedestrian safety, and increase general awareness of active transportation. Recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers as well as forming community partnerships will be essential to the success and sustainability of this program. United Communities AmeriCorps (UCA) engages members in meaningful service to meet critical needs in SW Oregon. UCA projects improve access to community programs in project focus areas of Education, Economic Opportunity, Healthy Futures, and Environmental Stewardship. Members engage clients in their dedicated service project, and then use their experience to recruit, retain, and support community volunteers. Members serve full-time for 11 months, totaling 1,700 hours for the term of service. Our positions have benefits (education award, monthly stipend, training opportunities, etc). Interviews are conducted on a rolling basis as qualified candidates are identified. Selection may be made prior to the application deadline. Early application is strongly encouraged.
